There are few trees in the world that produce such an excellent nut as the pecan tree.

People throughout North America are huge fans of the fruits of this tree. If you are lucky enough to be able to afford a whole grove of these trees, you can easily package and sell the annual nuts for a tidy profit each year.

The popularity of this tree’s fruits is enough to make it a worthwhile landscaping choice for anyone. Furthermore, the beautiful shade giving qualities of the tree make it a must have for anyone interested in landscaping their front or back yard.

Much taller than certain other varieties of tree, the pecan can grow to a maximum height of around 120 feet, but there are shorter 70 foot varieties available as well.

The pecan, indigenous to many parts of North America, will grow well in any temperate climate. As with most other trees, it is deciduous and will lose all of its leaves in the winter months after the first frost (for those places that have frost in the winter time).

The only necessity when growing the pecan tree is that the summers are much more hot and humid than the winter time.

While the pecan tree is a beautiful version of a hickory tree, it is certainly the nuts it produces which gives this tree such a name for itself. With the pecan nut’s characteristic rich flavor, it has become a staple in food preparation all over North America.

If you choose to purchase your own tree, you can have the satisfaction of eating the nuts straight from the tree (after you shell them of course) for an even more enhanced taste.

Just think of the huge variety of different foods you can create if you have tons of pecans at your disposal from a pecan tree. Such amazingly tasty dishes as pecan pie, pecan ice cream can be created without you having to spend a dime on purchasing bags of pecans.
